People can not refer you if they are not clear on what you actually do.
Your brand messaging matters.
Do not overcomplicate it.
If your company has evolved over time, take the time to work on your repositioning.
Speak to the transformation you provide and be clear on who you provide it for.
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people make intros and completely miss the mark.
What does this lead too:
- Wasted time talking to the wrong prospects
- Wrong perception in the market of you and your company’s capabilities
- Missed opportunities for visibility, sales, and partnerships
And most importantly: internal frustration.
The truth is if you can’t articulate what you do—-how can the world translate?
And not in technical-ese, but simply.
Companies/entrepreneurs do evolve over time as they grow..taking the time to assess the past, current, and future vision is critical to develop any growth strategy.
When I work w/ visionary CEOs and entrepreneurs to reposition their businesses —it’s always is a growth strategy exercise—not just a branding exercise. Important distinction to know.
Q. Are you having trouble articulating what you do because you are not sure yourself or have you just not prioritized it?
